Converted form a dis-used toilet block in our local park, Café L’ecole provides our students with a unique opportunity to gain invaluable work experience and life skills in the local community. They thoroughly enjoy serving customers, using the till, stocking the shelves, clearing tables, loading the dishwasher, learning about food hygiene and counting the takings!
The café also provides them with wonderful opportunities to develop their social and communication skills and it is a real pleasure to see our students grow in confidence and self-esteem through their experiences. Three students have recently successfully gained a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate and 2 students have achieved their Level 2 Award for Health and Safety in the Workplace.
We are delighted to be supported by the local community, community groups and passers-by and have received wonderful feedback from them about the quality of service from our students.
