Jack Petchey Winners Spring 2019
Spring 1st half term: Awarded to Chloe for her progress in communication
Chloe has worked on her vocal communication throughout the school day. Chloe is significantly more vocal when interacting with staff which has helped her to build positive relationships. She also uses her vocalisations to request more during snack time, which has helped to build her independence. Well done Chloe!
We are delighted to announce that our Cafe Manager, Elizabeth Heather, has won a Jack Petchey Leader Award for her work and commitment to our students.
Elizabeth runs our school cafe which was set up to enable our students to undertake work experience.
The Cafe is open to the public and our students are able to develop their communication, social and independence skills, whilst undertaking jobs such as putting out the tables and chairs, wiping tables, taking orders, serving customers and using the till, to develop their life skills under the direction of Elizabeth.
Elizabeth has endless patience with our students and they all love working with her in the cafe. Whilst working with Elizabeth, 3 of our students have achieved their Level 2 Award for Food Safety in Catering and 2 students have achieved their Level 2 Award for Health and Safety in the Workplace. She provides this wonderful opportunity for our students to experience a different environment and develop their skills through work experience, which our students would not usually be able to access.
Elizabeth will be presented with her award at a Celebration Event at the Orchard Theatre in July along with our other Jack Petchey winners for 2018 – 2019. She was presented with her confirmation letter from the Jack Petchey Organisation and a School Council Certificate for her achievement by Arron, Marlborough School Head Boy.
