Marlborough School Foundation Trust
Marlborough School Foundation Trust (MSFT) is a charitable trust that was established to support the students at Marlborough School. Since the trust was established in 2002, it has supported many development projects including the school’s wonderful hydrotherapy pool. More recently, the trust has supported students to attend school journeys and provide other exciting enrichment activities in school such as a circus and big top tent. The Charity is regulated by the Charity Commission and is charity number 1095182. It publishes its accounts and financial statements on the Charity Commission’s website each year.
Administration and trustees
The trustees provide their services without payment. The trustees are:
Liz Smith - Headteacher at Marlborough School – Chair
Candice Smith - Deputy Headteacher at Marlborough School – Secretary
Hazel McCarthy - Magpie Dance
Caroline Lee - Enterprise Co-ordinator at Local London Careers Hub East
Kristian Saunders, School Business Manager at Marlborough School is an advisor to the trustees.
Objectives and funding requests
The objectives of the MSFT are to support the young people in Marlborough School to have an enhanced experience in school through additional enrichment and confidence building activities and experiences. The Trust receives requests for funds from the school via a MSFT funding bid form. Bids are discussed during MSFT meetings or via email if below £2000 and the majority of trustees must approve the bid. The bid is judged on impact for our students, and following the spending of the allocated funding, and impact report is produced to the trustees.
Funding examples
Examples of projects the trust has funded include: updates to Marlborough’s sensory room for our young people that benefit from sensory stimulation including lights, textiles and music.
support for students physical and sensory needs through equipment purchased to support young people including tub chairs, sensory swings and fidget spinners
support for additional school outings or end of year trips to the school to benefit our young people that would not otherwise be viable
and of year celebrations such as Celebration of Achievement event
additional movement or dance sessions
Fundraising
We have recently established a Fundraising Committee that consist of school governors and
MSFT members. We are exploring different ways in which we can fundraise for example
through grants and other opportunities.
