Uniform and Equipment

School uniform plays a key role in promoting pride, self-confidence, and a feeling of belonging and all students are encouraged to wear it daily with pride.

  • Plain white polo shirt, shirt or t-shirt - Polo shirts with the school logo on are available from Caseys Schoolwear
  • Plain black trousers, shorts or skirt

Uniform 2023

Please ensure all clothing coming in to school is named. Whilst the school makes every effort to ensure that clothes remain with their owners mishaps do happen.

Students should not wear jewellery in school.

Some students who require a change of clothes bring them in daily in a bag and soiled clothes are returned home.

Students who require incontinence pads need to have them sent into school.

Games / Physical Education

Physical Education takes place both on and off site.  The PE kit consists of a white t-shirt, black shorts or tracksuit bottoms and trainers.  Students  should not wear any part of their school uniform during PE.

The school has representative teams in a number of sports – the school has some special kit for these or parents/carers will be advised accordingly.

Swimming

Swimming equipment i.e. towel and swimwear will be required and should always be named.  The class teacher will let parents/carers know when swimming takes place. Goggles are allowed with permission from the instructor.  Showers are encouraged.  Some students in KS3 and KS4 use our hydro pool, as do our PMLD students. Other students in KS3, KS4 & K5 access Sidcup Leisure Centre, Hurst Road.

Equipment

Most students have a school bag which they leave on their coat peg. Students may like to bring in their own pencil case, with pens, pencils, felt tips, ruler and rubber.

Videos, books and toys of any kind should not be brought into school unless requested; they are not encouraged in the classroom. If they are required for travelling they should be left on the bus during the day (or if not allowed, kept in their bag).

Students are requested and encouraged to bring in items from time to time for homework and to support curricular activities, these may be newspapers, photos, magazines and particular items.

Birthdays are celebrated and usually a class party is held with food etc., sent in from home. Marlborough School is a nut free school as we have students who have severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis).

Chilled filtered water is freely available throughout the day.
